The Secret's Out

The secret's out....
I am "releasing" or sharing all my go-to recipes that I use on a regular basis.
Now, I am not going to type them all up that would be more of a summer break activity... But I am going to find similar recipes online and site the sources, then share them with you all!

I haven't posted on this blog since March 2011.... (I had the best of intentions) So if you don't know me here is a little about me.

I am a full-time student, Elementary Education Major. I love to teach, learn, read books, and when I am not doing those things I love to cook! I am also a picky cook. In a perfect world I would cook everything using local and organic ingredients. Unfortunately, on a college budget and not "owning" a farm this isn't completely possible. But I do my best. I shop at the farmers market April- December (closed other months). I also shop at a local coop to buy bulk and local ingredients, and am lucky to have a grocery store that carries a good natural/ organic store brand.

One thing that helps me feed my family decently healthy meals (we're not perfect) is reading labels. I try really hard, REALLY HARD, to not but foods with preservatives, artificial colors, hydrogenated oils, and high fructose corn syrup. This makes grocery shopping really difficult (but it is doable!), because these chemicals are in everything, especially packaged foods.
They are what is put into foods that keep them fresh on the shelf for months and months.
They are very processed and are not natural.
Long story short, the solution to avoid eating these chemicals in home-made cooking.

That is why I started this blog. I want to share the recipes that I use all the time, I will leave out all the trial and errors, the "bad" recipes (this does happen often!).
Homemade cooking is possible but it isn't easy. It takes more time and preparation, but the end result is so worth it! Homemade food is healthier, cheaper, and best of all it taste so much better!
So enough of my rambling, enjoy the recipes!
